"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Friday, October 22, 2010 ( 1:40 PM )
Have you realised that you always have to complete a certain piece of work by a specific time? That you sometimes find yourself rushing out a last-minute project? Basically, all this is known as a deadline; the time by which something must be done or completed. But not everybody follows the deadlines that are given to them.
What happens when we start ignoring deadlines? If we are schooling, we face different punishments that are decided by the seriousness of our mistakes and the teacher who is in-charge. We may get punishments like standing in class, getting demerit points or the teacher may call our parents. All this may not seem like a big deal to us. However, in actual fact, the consequences of ignoring deadlines can be very serious; and this will greatly affect us. Why is this so? Because when we start ignoring deadlines very often, it becomes a habit, a habit which is hard to kick. And this habit will follow us when we grow up and start working.
We have to understand that the consequences of ignoring deadlines when you are working in an office and when you are schooling , is vastly different. When we fail to complete the assignment we are given when we are working, it will have many effects on us. Our boss starts to lose trust in us and our colleagues find it hard to entrust us with anything. This is all because, it reflects very badly on our character, that we are an irresponsible person. This way, in work, a person who ignores deadlines will not be able to get a good position; he will not be able to be recognised by his boss and colleagues. And this for sure, is not something to be proud of.
Thus, I feel that we should never ignore deadlines. As the old saying goes, ‘nothing gets accomplished without a deadline’. We should always try to stick to our deadlines and have proper time management so as to be able to meet the deadlines we are given. Or else, we need to be prepared for ‘the fall’ and suffer dire consequences in life.
